BioQuest is Biosphere’s biodiversity game: a daily Mystery Species, a species identification challenge, a species knowledge challenge, Habitat Match and Ecosystem Connections, plus species mastery, collections, weekly expeditions, badges and explorer levels.

Six short steps through everything BioQuest offers, in order. Skip any step and come back to it later — no step requires uploading a photo or connecting a wallet.

  1. Discover — Solve today’s Daily Mystery Species: reveal the photo bit by bit, read the clues and choose the species.
  2. Scan — Use the Field Scanner on a photo of your own. If it suggests a catalog species you agree with, add it to your Field Journal. No photo at hand? Practice with a catalog photo (no XP) or skip this step.
  3. Learn — Play the Species Knowledge Challenge: conservation status, diet, family and range, each answer explained.
  4. Explore a habitat — Play Habitat Match: match each species with a habitat where it really lives.
  5. Connect the ecosystem — Play Ecosystem Connections: place producers, herbivores, predators and decomposers in their food web.
  6. Review your progress — See what you’ve achieved so far — every number below comes from your saved progress.

Real-world impact missions

Take your biodiversity journey beyond the screen. These are real activities, not quizzes: complete a meaningful environmental action, submit your own evidence and follow the verification through Biosphere. A person reviews it before any XP or BPE is added.

  • Clean up litter on a beach, river, park, street or other permitted area and submit evidence through Biosphere.
  • Record a real observation of a wild animal, plant or fungus and submit it through Biosphere.
  • Help restore a habitat — plant suitable native species, remove invasive plants where permitted or support an approved restoration project — and submit evidence.

What you earn in BioQuest

Every activity gives XP, which measures your progress and level. A few milestones can also create a BPE token reward when that reward is active. XP is never converted into BPE.
