Impact Actions

Submit verified real-world actions for nature: litter cleanups, species observations and habitat restoration. Every action needs evidence and is reviewed by a person; safety comes first and locations stay approximate.

From action to verified impact

We keep it simple for you and hard to fake: real evidence, automatic checks and a human decision.

Act safely

Join or organise a cleanup, observe wildlife respectfully, or help a restoration project.

Add evidence

Upload your own photos, the date, an approximate place and a few details.

Automatic checks

We look for reused photos and inconsistent dates, places or quantities. These only help the reviewer.

Human review

A Biosphere reviewer checks the evidence. Nothing is approved automatically.

Recognition

Verified actions earn XP. When a reward rule is active, a BPE reward is created too.

Three kinds of actions

Litter cleanup

Remove litter from a beach, river, park, street or forest.

A photo before and a photo after, the number of bags or the weight, and how many people took part.

Species observation

Document a wild animal, plant or fungus you saw.

Your own photo of the species, its name (common or scientific), the date and an approximate place.

Habitat restoration

Plant native species, remove invasive plants or repair a habitat, with the site’s permission.

Photos of the site before and of the work itself, what you did and who organised it

BPE amounts are a provisional test-network configuration and may change.

No reward is worth a risk

Rewards are fixed per verified action — never per kilo — so there is no reason to take risks or exaggerate.

  • Wear gloves and closed shoes; bring a bag for sharp items.
  • Never touch needles, syringes, broken glass with bare hands, chemicals, batteries, asbestos or unknown containers — report them to local authorities.
  • Stay away from strong currents, cliffs, traffic, private property and wildlife nests.
  • Children should take part only with an adult.
  • Keep your distance and never feed, touch, chase or call animals.
  • Don’t move or pick plants and fungi, and stay on paths.
  • For threatened species we store an even rougher location and never show it publicly.
  • Only work where the landowner or site manager has agreed, ideally with an organised group.
  • Use native species recommended for the area.
  • Use tools safely and follow the organiser’s instructions.

What we check — and what we protect

Reused photos
Exact and near-identical copies of photos already submitted, by anyone.
Dates and places
Whether photo dates and locations match what you entered, and whether two actions are impossibly far apart.
Plausible quantities
Bags and kilos compared with the number of people.
Missing photo data is fine
Many apps remove photo metadata. Missing data never counts against you.
Private photos
Your photos are visible only to you and the reviewers, and we remove their metadata (including GPS) when we store them.
Approximate locations
Locations are rounded to about 1 km, or about 10 km for threatened species, and are never shown publicly.
