Cookie Policy
At a glance
Biosphere uses a small number of its own cookies and browser storage, only for features you use. It doesn’t use analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies, so there are no optional cookies to accept or reject.
Why Biosphere uses them
- To keep you signed in to your explorer account.
- To protect sign-in and checkout, for example by preventing an order from being placed twice.
- To remember your Store cart in this browser.
- To load Biosphere faster on later visits.
Biosphere doesn’t use cookies or browser storage to track you across other websites, to measure your browsing, or for advertising.
Essential technologies
These are needed for features you choose to use: signing in, social sign-in and placing an order. They are only created when you use those features.
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bs_session | Cookie · first-party | Essential | Keeps you signed in to your explorer account. Page scripts can’t read it. (when you log in) | Until you close the browser, or 30 days if you choose “Remember me” |
| bs_oauth | Cookie · first-party | Essential | Protects social sign-in against forged requests. (only when you use social sign-in) | 10 minutes |
| bs_checkout_key | Session storage · first-party | Essential | Prevents the same order from being placed twice. (when you place an order) | Until you close the tab |
| bs_order_… | Session storage · first-party | Essential | Lets you reopen a guest order you just placed. (when you place an order as a guest) | Until you close the tab |
The sign-in cookie can’t be read by page scripts, isn’t sent with requests that other websites make in the background, and on the live site is marked to be sent only over secure (HTTPS) connections.
Functional technologies
These make Biosphere more convenient. Neither is a cookie.
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bs_cart_v1 | Local storage · first-party | Functional | Remembers the products and quantities in your Store cart. (when you add a product to your cart) | Until you empty your cart or clear your browser data |
| workbox-precache-… | Cache storage (service worker) · first-party | Functional | Stores Biosphere’s own app files (code, styles and icons) so pages load faster. It contains no personal information. (when you visit biosphere) | Until Biosphere is updated or you clear your browser data |
Biosphere doesn’t store language, region or display preferences in your browser. Settings you choose in your account are saved to your account, not in cookies.
Analytics and marketing
Not used. Biosphere doesn’t currently use analytics services, advertising networks, tracking pixels, web beacons or social media tracking. If that changes, this policy will be updated.
Third-party services
All cookies and browser storage listed in this policy are first-party: Biosphere sets them for its own website. Some external services are still contacted when you use Biosphere:
- Mercado Pago (card payments)
- When card payments are available, Mercado Pago’s payment script loads on the checkout page to protect your card details. It may use its own cookies or similar technologies under Mercado Pago’s policies. Card payments aren’t enabled yet. Mercado Pago privacy — External ↗
- Social sign-in
- If you sign in with Google, Facebook or LinkedIn (when available), you’re taken to that provider’s website, where its own cookies apply.
Links to external websites, such as scientific sources or social media profiles, open those websites, which have their own cookie policies.
Browser storage
- Local storage
- bs_cart_v1: Remembers the products and quantities in your Store cart. If you log in, your cart is also saved to your account.
- Session storage
- bs_checkout_key: Prevents the same order from being placed twice. bs_order_…: Lets you reopen a guest order you just placed. Both are removed when you close the tab.
- Cache storage
- The live site installs a service worker that keeps copies of Biosphere’s own files. It doesn’t store your account details, cart, orders or anything you type.
Biosphere doesn’t use IndexedDB or other browser databases.
Your choices
Because Biosphere only uses first-party technologies needed for the features you use, there is no cookie banner or preference center, and no optional categories to switch on or off.
You can still manage cookies and site data in your browser. Most browsers let you see stored cookies and site data, delete them, block cookies (all, or only third-party ones), and allow them only for specific websites.
If you block or delete them
- Blocking cookies for Biosphere: you won’t be able to log in or stay logged in. You can still browse and place an order as a guest.
- Deleting cookies: you’ll be signed out.
- Clearing site data: a cart saved only in this browser is emptied (a logged-in cart is still saved to your account), and Biosphere downloads its files again on your next visit.
- Closing the tab after a guest order: you won’t be able to reopen that order from this browser, so keep your order number.
