Earn BPE

BPE is Biosphere’s reward token (ERC-20 on Polygon). It is issued only for verified activity and is currently on a test network with no intended real-world value.

From discovery to token

BPE connects verified contributions to biodiversity with a real blockchain reward.

Explore

Discover species and take part in qualifying Biosphere activities.

Complete

Finish a reward-eligible quest, learning milestone or approved contribution.

Verify

Biosphere checks the activity and your eligibility on its servers.

Earn

Biosphere submits the authorized reward to the blockchain.

Receive

After confirmation, BPE appears in your linked wallet.

Use or exchange · not available yet

BPE can’t be used, sold or exchanged in Biosphere today. Any future use or exchange depends on final tokenomics, a security review, the required approvals and a real supported market.

Not every activity earns BPE. Eligibility rules and limits apply, and they’re still being finalized.

Measures your progress in BioQuest and sets your explorer level. It stays in Biosphere.

A token on the blockchain, rewarded only for eligible activities. It lives in your own wallet.

Ways to earn

All seven ways to earn are active on the test network (Polygon Amoy) with this provisional configuration. Amounts and limits aren’t final and may change; nothing is active on Mainnet until it is approved.

Verified real-world actions (cleanups, observations, restoration) are submitted on Impact Actions →

Key facts

Read the BPE whitepaper →

Is BPE the same as XP?
No. XP measures your BioQuest progress and stays in Biosphere. BPE is a separate token on the blockchain, rewarded only for eligible activities. XP is never converted into BPE automatically.
Do the Field Scanner or the BioQuest quiz games earn BPE?
No. Scanning a photo or playing one of the four quiz games (Species Identification, Knowledge Challenge, Habitat Match, Ecosystem Connections) earns BioQuest XP only, and XP never turns into BPE. BPE comes only from the seven ways to earn below: the daily quest, species mastery, completed collections, the weekly expedition and the three verified Impact Actions. A personal scan is not a verified observation — submit a Verified Species Observation for that.
What’s the difference between testnet and Mainnet?
Polygon Amoy is a test network: its tokens are for testing and have no intended real-world value. A separate contract on Polygon Mainnet would be needed for a real token, after security, legal and tokenomics approvals.
If BPE is transferable, can I sell it?
Not necessarily. Transferable means you can send it to another wallet. Selling requires a real market with buyers and liquidity, which doesn’t exist yet. Converting to money also needs an exchange or off-ramp service.
Are there fees?
Receiving rewards doesn’t cost you anything. Transactions you start yourself, like sending tokens, have a network fee paid in POL.
Can a transfer be undone?
No. Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Always check the address and network before you confirm.
Who can see my wallet?
Blockchain addresses and their transactions are public and permanent. Biosphere stores only your public address, linked to your account.
What if I delete my Biosphere account?
Biosphere removes the link between your account and your wallet. Tokens already in your wallet stay there: Biosphere can’t take them back or reverse confirmed transactions.
Do I owe taxes?
Possibly. Receiving or selling tokens can have tax or legal effects depending on where you live. Check the rules that apply to you.
