How XP, levels and achievements work

How you earn Discovery XP, level up and unlock achievements.

Steps

  1. Earn XP — When you’re logged in, the Daily Mystery, games (first completed round of each game per day: +10, +5 per correct answer, +15 if perfect), daily objectives (+25), knowledge challenges (+15) and each species new to your field journal (+10, once per species) award XP. XP appears only after the server has recorded it, and a notification shows exactly how much.
  2. Field Scanner XP — After a scan, choose Add to my Field Journal on a catalog species you agree with. A species new to your journal adds +10 XP; one that’s already there adds nothing, and the same scan never counts twice. Catalog photos don’t earn XP.
  3. Level up — Moving from level L to the next costs 300 × L XP (level 2 at 300 XP). Your progress to the next level appears in BioQuest, after each scan and in your profile.
  4. Unlock achievements — Achievements unlock automatically when you reach milestones. See them in Achievements.

If something doesn’t work

Species already in your field journal don’t award XP again.

XP is not BPE: it is never converted, and scanner or game XP never creates a BPE reward.
